Busy tackling these wounded lists and I have the following
King's Liverpool Regiment
Private
E
51529
Marcus
Liverpool
Wounded
No Record

I can't find no Medal card for this soldier.

What is making the task even harder is most of the soldiers in this list for September and upwards are either recorded under their old 4 digit number and recorded under their new Regimental number on the medal cards or recorded under their new regimental numbers in the lists and under their old number on the medal cards. I have quite a few in the lists whose Regimental number begin with 515 from September onwards. Any advice greatly welcome.

The surname seems to be Russian.

Katie,

Pte E Marcus falls in the (probably Derby Scheme) enlistment batch number block 51504 (Pte Aspden) to 51547 (Pte Whittaker). The men in this batch were allocated their numbers alphabetically so 51528 is Pte Lucroft and 51530 is Pte Makinson. All of the men were posted as reinforcements to 4 KLR and based on the details I hold were from Liverpool. I can confirm that there is no medal card available for Marcus (as you know this is not unsual!) - it is always a good idea to check both A******y and the National Archives site.

Continue to be impressed with your perseverence with the WW1 newspaper listings and your determination to resolve the numerous errors that they contain!

If I can help with any other numbers let me know.

All the best

Joe

Thanks Joe.

I find the lists therapeutic and I was also not going to sit back and let my dream be hijacked by someone with their own Agenda. I am also learning about all the Battles and if it helps a researcher locate their Liverpool Soldier then I'm happy.
