While going through the burial records for Kirkdale Cemetery I came across the following:-

17th October 1918 Edward Stephen McDonald aged 54 13 Luther Street
17th October 1918 Lance-Corporal Stephen McDonald aged 23 yrs 13, Luther Street

This made me curious and I did look to see if there was any obituaries for both Father and son but I could not locate one.

Lance-Corporal Stephen McDonald death was registered in Whitchurch December qtr 1918 and his Fathers death was registered West Derby in the same qtr.

Stephen was awarded the MM. I have had a look on the London Gazette but I can't locate his entry

How sad to bury both Husband/Father and son on the same day.

What a hero!

Father dies on the 10th October 1918 and son dies 11th October 1918

Luke served with the South Lancashire Regiment.

How sad. How dreadful his mother would have felt to lose both of them more or less together.
