For general information about tracing WW1 men, try:

It has a linked forum. About 2/3 of all soldiers' records from WW1 were lost in the WW2 blitz, but you can look for medal index cards in Ancestry, free if you have a subscription or access via a library, or for a couple of pounds direct download from the National Archives.
For the Boer War, try googling under Anglo-South African War. There are several helpful sites and you may find personal details.
As Mary says, tell us what you know and we may be able to steer you in the right direction.
