Hi

Can anyone see if they can find and info in Medal roll cards etc for John Taylor born 1925 Bickerstaffe, Ormskirk... Trying to find a service number/regiment. Don't know much except he was in the Army and joined up towards the end of WW2 and went to India on a Ship

Nothing so far specifically with Bickerstaffe, but connecting Lancashire with India the only entry I have found is this which might be a bit early

It is my father in law who died 2003...was just hoping for a regiment or service number of something to get his service records.

You don't necessarily need the regiment and service number to apply for his army records. The date of birth might suffice. See https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-se ... es-records

As stated in the previous post the MOD have the records of those who served in WW2. It will cost £30 to obtain a record, by the way.
It is far more difficult to trace WW2 servicemen than for WW1 as almost nothing is online, apart from War Graves Commission data.

Thanks both of you...I have all the forms and did it for my grandfather records many years ago but I did have all his details and thought I may need them for this..

It seems to vary a lot. When I applied for my Dad's army papers a lady at the Army Personnel Centre was really helpful. We exchanged emails a couple of times and the papers arrived within two weeks.
