Private G. Mercer King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment

Post by Katie »

Working on my casualty lists and I have the following soldier:-

King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment
Mercer
241664
G
Private
Edge Hill
Killed

He is on the National Archives Documents online under Incomplete number 21664

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... i=D4025341

His Medal Card on Ancestry gives his name as George Mercer.

On CWGC he is recorded as Edgar Mercer

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... R,%20EDGAR

No Entry on SDGW

I have tried to locate a George/ Edgar Mercer with a mother called Georgina (nee Atkin) with no luck. I know I will probably have 2 entries for this Soldier in my WW1 database of those killed. I would just like to locate him on a Census with a mother called Georgina to verify his correct name.

There was a George Mercer birth registered march qtr 1896

Thanks all for those who help
