All members need to be aware that offering look ups from copyright protected material is in direct contravention of the copyright law.
Our Cds clearly state:- “Copyright. Liverpool & S.W. Lancs F.H.S. holds the copyright of this CD. It may be used for your own research, but the contents must not be used for commercial gain. You must not post any of the contents on the Web or carry out lookups for others on e-mail lists.”

FindMyPast has an exclusive license to host the images of the 1911 for a limited period. Both the index and the online transcriptions on that site are subject to copyright.
The Resources are for your own person use only.
Please
DO NOT Post full images - if you want help reading some of the writing, clip the image to show a small portion.
DO NOT Explicitly post look up requests.
DO NOT Offer images or look ups to others
Any images or transcriptions WILL BE REMOVED.
This situation may change, but until then please comply as no warnings will be given for the removal of posts.
They have updated their terms and conditions and tightened things up. May I suggest that you check their terms and conditions -
http://www.1911census.co.uk/Content/def ... px?r=79&26 Section 10 especially seems to be important in this respect.
It's becoming obvious by a couple of recent requests that some posters are not aware that the 1911 census is available ONLY on a pay per view basis. I suspect these queries are from people who may be new to our hobby of family history so I would like to point to a few hints that were put together to help searching the INDEX.
The site to search the census is http://www.1911census.co.uk/
and the following board might assist you.

Just adding to this post to include a little about copying and pasting - or rather not doing so! This is for any census, not just the 1911 one, and also examples such as births and marriages from the IGI.
What you discover for example on a census, parish register, or other document is facts and information which is not subject to copyright, but the manner in which they are presented can be. Any material posted on our forum will be removed if it bears the appearance of being copied and pasted from a source which is subject to an author's copyright.
Personal life events, such as birth, marriage, and death dates etc. are indexed by the GRO or its equivalent in other countries. From these, online indexes from FreeBMD, Ancestry, various family history societies are compiled in different formats so that they are more easily searchable. The format and layout of all of those indexes are probably subject to copyright, however the information they contain will not be.
The easy way to avoid problems for both yourself and our forum is
Type what you see - DO NOT COPY AND PASTE
Give details where you obtained the information from - ie census images are Crown copyright from The National Archives.

Following a recent enquiry as to whether the rules about the 1911 census have relaxed, our Education Officer has been kind enough to check up on the current Terms and Conditions of the various sites which offer census and other databases.
The following is what she has found. We will continue to abide by the rules.
From Ancestry T &Cs
Limited Use LICENCE
You are licensed to use the Content only for personal or professional family history research, and may download Content only as search results relevant to that research. The download of the whole or material parts of any work or database is prohibited. Resale of a work or database or portion thereof, except as specific results relevant to specific research for an individual, is prohibited. Online or other republication of Content is prohibited except as unique data elements that are part of a unique family history or genealogy. Violation of this limited use licence may result in immediate termination of your membership and may result in legal action against you. You may use the software provided on the Service only while online and may not download, copy, reuse or distribute that software, except where it is clearly stated in connection with software that it is made available for offline use, and a licence for such use is provided in connection with that software.
The Genealogist T & Cs
Use of the service is strictly limited to personal use (except for Business Plus, Professional Premium & Library Premium subscriptions, see below).
Access will be available for one user only (except library subscriptions). Simultaneous access from multiple computers can cause suspension of your account.
We reserve the right to impose a fair usage limit and the right to suspend the service in cases of misuse.
Providing a look-up service will cause immediate suspension without refund.
Those proven to be using our service to provide a look-up service to others will be liable to a charge of £5 per distinct name for which they have searched and £10 for each result viewed.
Genes Reunited
Fair usage: All subscribers are subject to a fair usage limit. You can view up to 5000 records each calendar month if you are a Genes Reunited subscriber. When you are approaching this limit we will send you an email to warn you. If you exceed this limit, you will not be able to view records until the next calendar month when your limit is reset.
The contents of the Genes Reunited Service, webpages, computer codes of elements comprising the Genes Reunited Service and any software provided to you by us may not be copied, reproduced, communicated and/or made available to the public, republished, downloaded, posted, recorded, broadcast or transmitted or used in any other way except for your own personal, private and non-commercial use, or unless otherwise expressly permitted by us.
1911 census site
10.2 You acknowledge and agree that the Resources are made available for your personal, non-commercial use only and that you may only download material and content from the Resources on one computer hard drive for such purpose. Any other use of the Resources is strictly prohibited.
10.3 You agree not to assist or facilitate any third party to copy, reproduce, transmit, publish, display, distribute, commercially exploit or create derivative works of all or any of the Resources. You further agree that you shall not, and shall not assist or facilitate any third party to, systematically extract and/or re-utilise parts of the contents of the Resources and in particular, you may not utilise any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools to extract (whether once or many times) for re-utilisation any substantial parts of the Resources. You may not create and/or publish your own database that features substantial parts of the Resources.
10.4 You agree not to use or allow the Services to be used for or by any third party to access, or view any Records or download any material or content of any Records, whether on a paid or gratis basis.
Find My Past T & Cs
What you can use the service for: You can only use the website for your own personal non-commercial use, e.g., to research your own family history. We are also happy for you to help out other people with their family history by telling them about records available on the website and how and where they can be found, including showing them anything within our free search results. However, you must not provide them with copies of any of the records (either an original image of the record or the information on the results page), even if you provide them for free.
Ancestry - YES - or they'd have have complained by now
Find my past - NO
The Genealogist - NO
Genes reunited - NO
1911 census site - NO
Perhaps these T & Cs should be again brought to our members. I wouldn't like anyone's subscription to be terminated or our forum to be closed because we ignored the T & Cs of sites we used.
