Watch Made in Liverpool (Channel 7 Freeview) 6.00 and 9.00 news this evening for a memorial service held this morning for the Indonesian Merchant Navy Sailors who served for the Dutch and who are buried in Walton Park Cemetery. It should also be on the digital Echo this evening and in print tomorrow.

If anybody caught it you may recognise our own Forum member Vic, who gives credit to our Society and our Forum for his start on this piece of research because of the help he was given trying to find his own grandmother's grave at the cemetery.

Haven't seen the piece on the Echo website yet, but perhaps it will be there by tomorrow and within about a week the piece will be available on the Made in Liverpool website.

Thanks Mary and any one else involved. I have spent the day explaining how lots of different religions and colours fought and died for this and similar countries. Armistice day is not just for Christians.

Thanks Blue, As you know it has taken a considerable time to get these men recognised and 'adopted' but I am more than satisfied with the end result now.
I'm sure most people who are interested will know that these men were actually Merchant Navy Sailors for the Netherlands rather than Soldiers but nonetheless deserving of recognition for their sacrifices.
