I have had a lot of trouble finding my Maguires and i thought i would post this 1891 census which explains some of the reasons why.

Alice Magner 32 Wife
Wm Jas Muginer 8 son
Margaret Margison 7 Daughter
Alice Magnin 5 Daughter
Mary Maginn 4 Daughter
Jane Mugnaini 1 Daughter

Every name is spelt differently but when you look at the actual cenus it looks like Maguire. Don't know who transcribed this one but think they must have been dunk.

Well that's classic! Obviously we've often found the name spelled differently in different censuses but to have them all different in the same one takes some beating.

I know you are supposed to type what you see............but really a bit of common sense has to come into play. I find FMP much better for transcriptions than Ancestry personally.
