Ancestry DNA

hi
getting a pop up every time I sign in to Ancestry about their AncestryDNA (offer) at almost £100 excluding postage sounds extortionate!
Has anyone ever done this or something similar - I'm not sure how ethical it is or what they plan to do with the information once they have it.
I think it would be fascinating to find out your ancestral ethnic history but I won't be trying it out for a while - not at those prices lol
Thanks

To be honest £100, depending on what they are offering is not a bad price
in comparison with some other companies.
There is a video about the introduction to genetic genealogy which you might find interesting

Also another interesting article

Thanks for those. I saw a Who Do You Think You Are? USA on youtube and the guy in it did the DNA thing. It looked like he swabbed the inside of his mouth and sent it away. It sounded like it might be interesting, especially as they matched his DNA with a distant cousin in West Africa, where he eventually went to meet this person! I think I'm craving some exotic genes in my ancestral DNA. LOL

Just received an email from Ancestry this morning with a 25% offer off their DNA bringing it down to £75.00. Have to add on shipping at £20 so the total will be £90.
The link actually completes the form with my details so I can't post it here, but there is a telephone number 0800 404 9723 and as it's a Freephone in England if you want to go ahead, I'd use that.
