I haven't been to the William Brown Library for some years now. Does anyone know if the allow iPads in there? I take a lot of notes on my iPad now and I'd rather know in advance than upset the applecart on my next visit which will be quite soon.

You are very welcome to take ipads, phones, tablets, laptops etc. There is free wifi also, just register when you log on. Lovely to see you if you can make a Tuesday afternoon when we host the Help Desk.

Don't forget that if you want anything in the archives you need to book 24 hour in advance, don't bother to telephone, I've never managed to get through yet, but the Contact form on the website is always responded to and they are very helpful.

Microfilms/fiches and computers are also freely available. If you can't find your library card bring two forms of id, utility bills will do, and get a new one which will enable you to log on to their own computers if you need to as they have both Ancestry and Findmypast available for free but only through their own network.
