Magna Carta signed 800 years ago

On 15 June 1215, King John sealed the Magna Carta in Runnymede. Largely an agreement on issues affecting the Barons and the King, it has nonetheless become an influential document throughout the world. Because of the ideas expressed within it: such as ‘free’ men should be given a fair trial, it has come to represent liberty and freedom. Events celebrating its 800th anniversary are ongoing throughout the year.
