Hello All
Be advised if using O.S. XP, do not purchase FTM2014, they are not compatible.
You cannot merge FTM with Ancestry. When you access records and then view you will be confronted with a black screen. I. E. is inbeded in FTM, and Ancestry have made changes to their site. There are no patches.

I would imagine that this is because Microsoft are no longer supporting Windows XP, which they consider now to be out of date and if you have purchased the most up to date which 2014 must be, then it has been created to work with a more up to date OS.

See:

This site clearly omits any reference to compatibility of FTM2014 with XP. And this lot is worth a read... quite a few unhappy bunnies...

I have checked a number of other currently available programs and it would appear that all will run on XP.

I believe the creator of most genealogical software is available to respond to queries, so it would always be useful to try a forum or even question direct to the publishers before purchasing. However, I do believe in this instance that you would be within your rights to ask for a refund.
