Problem when logging in

In the past few days, on this forum only, I find there is an obtrusive advert dancing about at the foot of the screen when I log in. It tells me I have won a prize [which I do not want] and when I click on the 'x' to get rid of it, the image then fills the screen.
Any solutions please?
I use Firefox.

Hi Daggers,

I had this problem some years ago and scanned with Malwarebytes I think it was called, or,
You could try a System restore to a time before the problem started.

It does seem as if you have some malware on your machine, there is nothing on our site that would promote adverts such as that you describe.

Just a suggestion, perhaps try something like this to clean your system. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

As the folk have said, it is almost certainly a bit of malware your machine has picked up. I use Spybot as a permanent fixture on my PC, active all the time with the occasional full system sweep.
Find it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/

And it is FREE!

And since Bert suggested System Restore... and I am a little paranoid about losing data or unintentional/accidental changes to the data, I have set up 3 Restore Points per day, 12 noon, 6 PM and 11 PM. Old Restores are automatically deleted after 48 hours. It is also a very convenient way of totally getting rid of all bits of a program you have installed but decided you don't like it and uninstall. A standard 'Uninstall' will often leave bits behind especially in the Registry, which will increase start-up and shut-down times among other things. I do a Restore Point 'snapshot' immediately prior to any Install.

Thanks for suggestions, and sorry for delayed reply - not logged in lately. I'll give those thoughts a go and hope to get rid of the 'visitors'.
