Old Post Boxes of Liverpool

I understand that Liverpool has two of the oldest post boxes in the country. Does anyone know where they are, as when I am next in Liverpool I would like to take photographs? Are either recorded on line?

I would also be grateful to hear about any other unsual examples of post boxes in and around the city.

Thank you

Leigh

Hope this helps,

Also this one in Birkenhead I see quite often, unusual because of its vertical slot.

Hi Bertieone

Thank you for the information. Wish I had logged in earlier, I was in Birkenhead this morning and could have taken a photo. Never mind... next time.

Have never seen the one in Birkenhead, Bert. It's just feet away from where ancestors lived, so they would have used it.

It's the one thing I've noticed in old photos and bits of early film... modes of transport, clothing, even street lighting, all change down the years. Post boxes, they stay exactly the same. :) They could tell a few tales, those old boxes!

Hi Fledge

When I get down to Birkenhead I will take a photo of said box and try to work out how to put it on the forum
