Oh my, Golly, Gosh! Katie!
Cat among the pigeons... Maybe...
He's not a member of my Sarsfield clan, by blood at least. His given age at death [28th March 1915] indicates bn abt 1872 but there are no births in Lancashire +/- 2 years. This has me thinking...
Remember the awful Fry parents who seemingly abandoned at least 2 children William and Joseph in 1898, and William later died in Kirkdale Schools in 1903? The parents Thomas [bn 1864] and Elizabeth Fry [nee Pierce] vanished before the 1901 census... Thomas had a younger sister Ada Fry who had married James Sarsfield in 1891 and by 1901 Ada and James were living in Mill Lane next door to Thomas' mother Elizabeth who had been a widow since 1878.
Thought....

Did Thomas evade 'justice' by changing his name to Sarsfield? And lose a couple of years in order to enlist? James' father's name was Thomas [bn 1832, dd 1907].
However, it was not be.... before I hit the Submit button I have just found the right TS in 1911....
15a Bidder St, Islington, Liverpool.
SARSFIELD, Anne - Head - Widow - 80 - 1831 - Pedlar - County Galway
SARSFIELD, Thomas - Son - u/m - 38 - 1873 - Dock labourer - Staffordshire
Anne was married at 15, had 11 children and 6 had died!
Much appreciate the thought Katie though. Thank you for thinking of me and mine.
Regards,
Brian
