He holds the candle, while his mother chops the wood.

Was talking to my youngest son re decorating, have done a couple of rooms recently.

I said, " I think my ceiling days are over, I'm having bother with up and down the ladders". He said, "Don't worry about that mum, I'll sort it for you".

This morning he turned up with a brand new roller with a very, very long handle..

The old song came into my mind.

He holds the candle while his mother chops the wood.
He holds the candle as every good son should

So considerate.

Hi Gray,
I remember that song from listening to AFN [American Forces Network] broadcasts from Germany after the end of WW2... http://youtu.be/vLaFUhPLRvE
And the writer: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0336766/bio

Thanks DS,

My dad used to sing it.

Has always made me smile but today it made me laugh out loud
Thought it too good to be true when he said he'd sort it.

Haha, I have a similar one. My son brought me home from hospital yesterday evening and said he was cooking dinner, I was to just sit down and be waited on. First of all I checked the dishwasher that had some dishes in it that had been sat there for a while so I turned it on the highest setting to give them a good go.

Finally dinner ready - lovely meal, dishwasher not yet finished, so I told them to go home and I'd put the dirty dishes away afterwards. Well when afterwards came and I looked at the kitchen - three of us had eaten but eight dinner plates had been used! three frying pans and three saucepans and every scrap of cutlery from the drawer.

Thanks for my dinner son!

Don't you just love 'em

Actually, the gadget my son bought me has turned out to be great! It's very lightweight.

Ceilings are a doddle now, I just stand on the floor and paint. Only have to climb the ladder for coving
Wonders, has he a solution for this?
