At the Footy

My Ed fulfilled an ambition on the weekend, he went to Melbourne with mates for 4 games of footy (aussie rules).
The highlight being a seat at the M.C.G. 45,000 there, a bloke sits down next to Ed, you've guessed, a scouse!!
Been here donkeys years. Watching game with his Aussie sons.
We updated our will today & the young Irish lass at the lawyers, did 3 years training in Castle St.
She picked our accents right away and seemed really pleased to listen to us talk.
:D

There's no escape. You've even got a cousin of mine near you now!

It seems strange that the scouse accent is so resistant to change. Last May an old school and rugby club mate came to visit us. Known him and his wife for yonks, like over 50 years. They had moved to Australia in the very early 70s and lived around Sidney up to 2008 when they retired to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains.

I was expecting some 'Strine' but they both still had their scouse accents! They told us they often get taken for 'very recent Poms'.
