Havent been on for a while just arrived back from visitiing daughter no 2 in Vermont had a lovely time hadnt seen her for 2 years except on skype. Now its back to this cousin thing....its on my husbands late fathers side of the family. Some of the people are living so wont name them.

male A has female first cousin B she has 2 children out of wedlock

So A is second cousin to B's children :?:

A marries and has 2 children ...are these 2 children first or second or whatever cousins to B's illegitimate children.

Hope that makes sense.. :?

Thanks Ann :) :)

Hi Ann, good to see you back and you had a good time.

I think you need a Relationship chart http://genealogy.about.com/library/nrel ... pchart.htm

Alternatively do you have a family history programme? Even a demo version of Family Historian will actually give you the relationship to the "root" person.

This chart might be easier to see
http://www.chrishobbs.com/chart.htm

Second cousins have a common GREAT grandparent. The once removed bit comes in when one side is the next generation down.

So yours is grandchild in one branch, but 2 x great on the other branch.

As ever thank you Mary...The charts made it a lot easier, however it might be some time before I can safely say I've got it....
