What can I expect to find?

Have just found out that an ancester of my other half emigrated to New Zealand...he seems to be listed on fmp as leaving in 1955...I dont have a sub but am wondering what info would there be on a view of the ships transcription .... where he was from etc.

I have a passenger list that's probably from the same collection for a family going to Australia in 1959. I think the contents will be similar here is what was included:-

OUT-GOING PASSENGERS

- Name of Ship
- Owner or Agent
- Date of Departure
- Where Bound
- Leaving Port
- Ticket Number
- Surname, Mr, Mrs etc & initials
- Travel Class
- Port Destination
- Male or Female
- Date of Birth
- Married, Single, Divorced etc
- Address in the UK
- Occupation or Relationship
- Country of Citizenship
- Country of Last Residence
- Country of Intended Residence

Hi DS...thank you for the offer ..but with Mary's help I have him on a passenger list and emigrating to NZ 1955 and hes single... Alan Francis Linnell b 1928 in Rugby and moved to Notts betwween 1930 and 1935. Have all the relevent info on the family up to and onward..... it was just Alan was nowhere to be found until my other half says !!!! "Dad mentioned one time about a cousin emigrating to NZ". Hello... I've been searching for weeks for him and now you tell me!!! .. So now where to start in NZ

This is the 'official' NZ site and from personal experience it is quite difficult to search for relatively recent records in NZ. https://www.bdmonline.dia.govt.nz/

I suggest a post on the Other Areas board, highlighting New Zealand. I know you are looking for a hopefully living person but.... were there's hope etc.

When I was searching for someone who moved to NZ with his family in 1954 I found a probate record fairly quickly for him with the help of a friend out there. Unfortunately that friend has since passed away otherwise I would ask him for help.
