Sue don't worry, the deadline is for a list of surnames that we inherited from some other body, which had been submitted by Non members. This list is so old that most of the email addresses are out of date and so the whole list will be deleted.
You are a member and so your surnames can be submitted
here
This list will hopefully be a current list with members keeping their email addresses up to date so the list is searchable.
And I believe the limit of 10 will not be adhered to any longer since there is plenty of space on the server for the list.

Sorry to be thick Mary, can you just expand on this for me.
Would that be surname interests when we went into the site previously?
Thanks

There were two lists - one was and still is "Members Interests". When you become a member you are invited to submit up to 10 names you are researching, these are then published in the Journal and also listed on the website, now you can add more than 10 to the website but only new members names will go in that current journal. This is a very useful list, as they are submitted by our Members, and so hopefully if somebody finds a name they are interested in, it will belong to a current member and can make contact. This list is searchable.
You need to be a member to submit to this as the membership number is part of the online form to be completed.
There was also a list called "Surnames List" ( still there until 4th April). This was a list that the Society was asked to accept on behalf of another Society that presumably ws closing down - this was sometime in the 1990's I believe. Over time it has been discovered that that many of the email addresses have become out of date and people cannot be contacted regarding their names. This is the list that it has now been decided will be removed. Historically it really has nothing to do with our Society. This is the one that will be removed.

Well I don't want our members under any misapprehension that their interests aren't very important to us, they certainly are, and this way hopefully all links will be valid.
