Just found this birth registration -
April 1864 Liverpool - Robert VILE Thompson! Poor man, I hope it's a transcription error!

Hi Barbara,
No mistake! That's his name in the GRO birth index. His parents were John and Mary Jane Thompson [RG10 - 3837 - 44 - 12]. In 1871 He is a forwarding agent and their two oldest children were born in Australia. John is from Colne, Lancs, and she is from Somerset. They live in a big house in Great Crosby... 2 servants.
No GRO marriage so I suspect they wed down-under. Was hoping her maiden name was Vile. Lots and lots of Viles in Somerset!
