Hi all just contacted FMP re 1911 i have had a sub for two years now starting Jan 2010, ended it as Ancestry has it now.

As we know they have added health of the person now which we couldnt see before, quiet angry that i could onlyRE- view census images which i had viewed after Dec 2010..so thats near one years worth of viewing i cannot RE see, and mainly all my familys images.

I have emailed them asking why i cannot view these earlier images i have paid for i am waiting their response, as i do not think it is fair at all.

:( :( :(

Can anyone with FMP confirm that their 1911 Census records now include the health column? I have some 1911 Census website records that I can view again and I know these now include the health column.

"Until 1 March 2012, you can view a 1911 census original image for 10 credits (previously 30) and a transcript for 5 credits (previously 10)."

£6.95 - 60 credits - £0.12 per credit expire 14 May 2012

£24.95 - 280 credits - £0.09 per credit expire 13 February 2013

Hi

I have FMP subscription and decided to check when they opened the column on disabilities. I have only found 2 with information. One is a gguncle born 1883 - on the 1891 and 1901 he is described as death and dumb from birth. The same information has been revealed on 1911. Like all of us doing family history I have checked dozens of ancestors on the 1911 and have only found 2 with disabilities. So I would ask - was it really worth scanning the cencus twice when the information is available on earlier records.

I suspect there may be lots of entries under 10 years old where there are disabilities listed - or indeed show up that there was an error or omission in some of the earlier censuses. I must admit that I haven't yet checked so can't add to the discussion on percentages found.

Colette you make it sound as though some of the later ones were not for your own family - be careful what you complain about since their Terms & Conditions do specify that your research should be for your own use, don't get into trouble!

Hi Yappie,
I understand the reason the 'health' column was blanked was to allow the census to be available a year before the 100 year closure period expired. It was a specific requirement of the National Archive when they finally agreed to an early disclosure. Most, if not all, of the other information on the census form were already available in the public domain, via BMDs etc. Since health issues were not in the public domain, the privacy of an individual had to be protected for the full 100 years.

And to put your mind at rest, :) , I do not believe the pages were scanned twice. I think the blanking was done electronically by the imaging program on their servers.

Hopefully Ancestry will restore the health column on their 1911 records in the future.

Hi Mary they know what we do why else would they let us have subs for over two years but i get your point..

reply today

I understand your frustration but unfortunately it is not as easy as starting it from the day of your subscription. We did not actually introduce the remembered records function on the site until December 2010 which is why we have that as the date that users can view their records from. There was nothing there that would remember the records before this time.

Sorry we cannot be of more help.

OH WELL will have to wait for Ancestry to put them on..found one Great Uncle who i must have looked at late on he was Feeble Minded, and its funny as in the back of my mind i knew he wasn't 100% still at home with his folks in his 30s..his dad died 1910 and mum 1911 so he was put into the workhouse..that is so sad as he was ok at home looking after two elderly people, proberbly just a guy who was a bit slow..
