We're having a heatwave

Oh my stars, it's terrible.
For the previous week temps were around 35c and we had the most spectacular electrical storm every recorded.
It gets worse, every day over 40c and that's in the shade
More to come. The kids go back to school after summer hols next week, poor beggars.
The aircon movies are packed out as are the shopping centres.
Not much relief down south.
Tropical cyclone up north, hence we have this oppressive cloud cover today, pushing the heat down.
Ice cubes in the dog's water bowls.
How the pioneers every survived without ceiling fans and aircon's I'll never know. Especially the Irish Nuns who went up north, where the temp is an everyday event. It took 6 years for the Vatican to give them the okay to wear cotton habits..beyond belief.
We went with the grandees and everyone else to the beach for Australia Day. It was just bonzer, great atmosphere, didn't stay long of course.
I just wish we had a big pipeline to bring in the rain from over east.
Keep youse posted.
Tina .... phew

After a fairly mild January so far, we are now told to expect a month of bitter cold (not cold bitter, which you need!) with snow likely later today.
Keep it for the Christmas cards, is my view.

You can go off people, you know!
Seriously we've had a very mild winter here - hyacinth's are already out in the garden. We're due cold weather next week as well which means all the little shoots will be withered.Ho hum.
Happy Australia Day

Forgot to say Happy Australia Day yesterday to you Tina and all our other friends "down under".

We wouldn't mind sharing a little of your temperature, what we need is that melting pot, you have a bit of ours and vice versa  Temp is varying between 4 and 5 degrees so just enough to light the frosty sign on the car, but heavy hailstones over the last couple of days make us think we are headed for a bit of snow - don't believe the forecasters these days

Sounds to me like the beach is the best place for you all, stay cool!

Thanks folks, just thinking of snow makes me shiver, which is GREAT..
No more roaring 40's after today, just mild 35c all week
I love hyacinth's, I used to plant them in bowls and leave in the gas cupboard!!

When I got up this morning, all the cars outside were covered in Ice (from the ground Up).

Temps last night (according to online news sites) was -10 to -12c.

I felt Warm when I read How Cold it was in Antartica (-66c, expected to fall to -89c in next few days). Now That is COLD!

It's pouring snow here and has been most of the night by the look of it - sunny south west France! We've had freezing weather all week as well.
