We made it!

Just thought I would tell the world, especially all my friends, contacts etc on the forum, that today the 29th of December....
My wife and I are celebrating 55 years of marriage.
Not all of those years were on a rose-petaled path. There were bad times and there were very bad times, but with commonsense, compromise, tolerance and forgiveness we are still together and happy.

Well my father-in-law-to-be, a Welshman to the very core, said when I asked his permission to marry his daughter that he had hoped she would marry a Welsh poet or a singer...

But I held my parents-in-law in the highest esteem. They were both very good people.
And what's with this "long-suffering wife" thing? Didn't I provide a washing machine, a dishwasher, a freezer, a refrigerator, a nice cooker, a colour telly when colour arrived, a rotary ironer, a fabulous kitchen cabinet in our first flat....
Then when our first daughter arrived a beautiful Silver Cross pram. Here it is in Southport, September 1961, with 18 months old Cathryn in tartan pants and 1 month old Helen tucked up inside.

PS: And there are two bottles of bubbly [one each!] in the fridge!

Another year successfully completed.... Thank you for the thought! Very kind of you and much appreciated. There are two more bottles of bubbly in the fridge ready for tomorrow. All we need is the snow to make the day complete! We had to dig our way into the church the day before the ceremony and clear nearly 2 feet of the white stuff!!

Salem Chapel, Corris Isaf, Merioneth.
Note: Isaf [pronounced Eesav] means 'Lower'. There is a Corris Uchaf [Eechav - the ch is soft as in Scottish 'loch'], which is Upper Corris at the top of the valley about a 1/2 mile away.
