Searching for a Lynch I came across this census entry... Talk about being politically correct..

NEWSTEAD, Arthur - Head - Widower - 24 - General Dealer - Poplar, London.
LINCH, Charlotte - Paramour - Married - 28 - New South Wales.
LINCH, Winifred - Paramour's child - 5 - Stepney, London.
NEWSTEAD, Mary A - Putative daughter - 0 (6M) - Stepney, London.
PLOTT, Rowland - Paramour's brother - u/m - 27 - New South Wales.

To save you rushing for the Concise Oxford Dictionary....
A Paramour is a lover, especially one in an adulterous relationship and 'putative' means 'alleged'! Bit brutal, but very honest, to put on a census form?
