Liverpool Echo and Daily Post Forums CLOSURE

Just found this post on the Echo Ex-Pats and Old Pals site. It would appear that the Liverpool and Daily Post Forums will be closed down on Friday September 30. Between now and then, they will remain open, but locked, to give folk time to exchange contact details with fellow forum users should they wish to.

See the full sad story here:

In future any specific ex-Pat or Old Pals enquiry, should be directed Chloe Beesley at chloebeesley@liverpoolecho.co.uk

I suppose the head lids call it progress? But it really is a loss because of the success stories that have resulted from contacts on that site.. re-united relations, siblings and parents even.

That's a really big community to just close down, I have recommended it on many occasions for people looking for living relatives. It does seem a step backwards.

Flippin' heck that's a sudden decision! As someone who had success with the forum I'm sorry the same facility won't be available to others. As a technophobe I certainly won't be tweeting or twittering! Is this what they call progress?
Cheers

What an appalling display of contempt for their users. Either a cost cutting exercise or they don't like something about the forum contents.
