My German people apparently just wanted to go to live in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Apart from one child who died as a baby in Germany and my ancestor who eventually settled in Liverpool, all the children lived and died in Grimsby or the surrounding area. Just doing a search for German born people living in Lincolnshire in 1861 and got 11 pages of results on Ancestry.

Quite a lot! Could be a mixture of some wanting to come to England and others thinking they may have moved forward but didn't.
