Corker today birth place Bampton Down Ireland, hello, no mention of Ireland

Another corker! Not in a census but present day! A lot of us will have used a help-line to solve a problem with software or the computer itself and discover we are talking to someone in India or Bangladesh and it's 3 AM in the morning with them....

Well my wife and I bought a new mattress from a biggish Irish companay a year ago that had to be replaced in July due to a warranty fault. The replacement mattress has developed the same fault and guess where the 'Complaints' line is based...? INDIA! I phone a Dublin number about one of the company's beds and it is answered in India!

Talking about Asian voices on the telephone, a while ago after being pested continuously for a few days and getting extremely fed up, on the next call I thought I'd jump in first.

Asian voice, "Hello Mr Bert"

Me, "I've got double glazing, I have no cavity walls, the loft is insulated and there's fook all wrong with my computer"

Asian voice "I'm very pleased to hear that, will you tell Mrs Bert her curtains are ready for pick up"

The last time an Asian voice called about the fault they had detected on my laptop I said "The only top I have is a tabletop and this conversation is being recorded while we trace the call." There was a pause at the other end and then he hung up.
