Hi People
just wanted to tell folks about my success with my Irish Ancestors, been doing this research for some years but gave up all because my great grand dad came from Ireland, by chance this year I went onto Genes Reunited site Census 1911 turned up with my great grand dad Patrick Drohan comming from Kilmacthomas Waterford, so got in touch with Waterford City Libaray, they told me they had Parish Registers thier from 1700's they also gave me the name of a Local Researcher thier, cut the story short the reseacher produced 4 original parish register entries for Weddings all in LATIN and 14 birth entries all in Latin which they duly Transcibed to English for me anyone who has ancestors from Waterford Ireland I can ask the researcher if I can give thier name out ok cost me 100 Euros to me money well spent,

Well done I'm so glad you have had such a successful result.
Having found them in the 1911 census of Ireland, have you also checked the 1901 census? both are free on the National Archives site.

Sure did Mary, the researcher supplied both the 1901/1911 Census Ireland, also some lady from Dublin that I know sujested that Drohan derives from De Drohen from the French family of Hougermont, always thought are name was Gaelic. anyway the lady is checking with her Uncle as somewhere in his records he done a Thesis on the Drohan name. he recons it derives from the French, cant wait to hear the reply.
