I've noticed that at some point in the 20th Century C of E baptism registers started to include the names of God-Parents. This has proved useful to me recently as one of the three God-Parents recorded was actually known to be the real father of the child concerned!

Oh how interesting, I will have to watch out for that. Which dates have you found so far (and which church) - just narrowing down when it might have begun?

Re: God-Parents in C of E Baptism Registers
The earliest one so far is St. Peter's Everton for 1940. It would be useful if anyone knows of any earlier dates. Usually the C of E church registers had the same format so they might have all started recording God-Parents at the same time.
