Hello Can somebody help with my query? My Dad was registered as Edward James COWARD but after his mother married he was known as Edward James Davies. My question is when I fill in history details do I put COWARD, COWARD known as Davies or Davies. His army records and emigration papers are all Davies.

Edward James Davies né Coward.
Meaning original name, called, born.
né-male, née-female.

Good one Bert, I've never come across the ne for a male before but it totally makes sense.
If BJD means how in a computer programme, my Family Historian has multiple name fields, the second to be entered is shown in diagrams as "a.k.a.".
