Re: FB enquiry, Lorraine Descallar
Many thanks Bert & Alex. It was lovely to log on today and find all this waiting for me. With all this information, I'm dying to know just how bad he must have been as a soldier to be discharged after only 8 days (to be fair, that is probably 7 days more than I would last in the Army!) Could he have been enlisted again later in the war if he was discharged in 1914? I also love the description of the dancing Irishman tattoo.
I'm looking forward to some spare time later to go through everything and add all the detail to me tree.
Thank you again for all your kind help.

Re: FB enquiry, Lorraine Descallar
Lainey,
Remarks were, He was unlikely to be an efficient soldier,
Perhaps he suffered an illness or weakness in his health, this may have contributed to his early demise in 1918, if in fact that's his death.
It is known for men to be refused entry on health grounds only to enlist later on, sometimes under a different name, so yes anything is possible.
