Hello all,
Haven't posted for a while but still trying to chip away at the brick walls.
My query concerns Emily Woodfine, born 1889, probably Lancashire. She married John Ball, a farmer, address Hundred End, on 5th June 1920. Her address is given as 10 King Street, Lostock Hall. There is no father recorded on the marriage certificate and I can't find a birth registration for her.
Can anyone help with any further information?

Taken from Lancs OPC. Only other entry is 1881.

Thank you so much Johnny O. I'm sure that will be her - it explains why there is no father's name - looks like her parents weren't married. Now to explore further!

There is a member of the Society with the name Woodfine - not very common is it? She is also a member of our Facebook Group which might be the best way of making contact with her if you think it's worth it.

Hello Mary. Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not on Facebook. Although it's not a common name I've just realised that the bit of info I've had for ages is completely wrong - Emily's date of birth is way out for the family I found. Not only that, thanks to JohnnyO I'm pretty sure he found the right girl. I can't find anything more on her though. Will keep trying.

Page 1 of the census shows Fleetwood St on the enumerators walk

Marriage at St Marks, Preston, same as Emily's baptism.

Elizabeth's signature looks like Woodfine?
