Name on marriage certificate not birth name

My great-grandfather's brother, Thomas Walter Collister, married Florence Cannell in the IOM in 1883:

The strange thing is that her name wasn't actually Florence, it was Emma Mary! She is shown as Emma Mary on the baptisms for their children and also on all censuses.
Any idea why she would have used a different name on the marriage certificate? Wouldn't this make the marriage illegal?
