Just sharing my story! ;-)

In the 1911 census of Warrington, widow Sarah Jane Jones (nee Vaughan aka Huxley) states she has had 12 children, 6 died, 6 living. (She was born 04 Feb 1855 and died 11 Oct 1919.)

The children known are:

1) Jane Eleanor Jones 1873 death or marriage unknown - ?

2) William Henry Jones 1875-1963 (moved to Canada by 1911)

3) Charles Jones 1877-1885 appers to be buried at St Giles Cathedral, Wrexham

4) Sarah Ann Crump, prev Shawyer, nee Jones 1879-1910 Buried St Thomas Churchyard, Stockton Heath, it seems with first husband

5) Emily Maxwell nee Jones 1881-1907

6) Maurice Jones 1882-1965 cremated Walton Lea, Cheshire - scattered Newton le Willows Cemetery, Lancashire

7) Phoebe Francis, prev Downes, nee Jones 1884-1970 buried with 2nd husband in Wrexham Cemetery)

8) Frederick Jones 1887-1961

9) Catherine Jones 1888-1889 buried with mother and father in Wrexham Cemetery)

10) Catherine aka Kate aka Kitty Dwight nee Jones 1890 - ? (did she marry a second time before her death?)

11) Herbert Jones 1892 - died after 1965 as he attended his brother Maurice's funeral

12) an unknown child if the census was correctly informed!

Sarah Jane's husband was William Jones born 05 May 1852 and died 16 Oct 1896; they were married on 02 Nov 1872.

So that's 24 years of Jones to work through to find the missing child - argh! lol

:-)

Looking at the frequency I would imagine the missing child would be between Catherine and Herbert.

Sarah Jane's mother was called Eleanor aka Ellen but her father unknown - her step-father was Thomas but she lived with her grandparents Charles and Eleanor aka Ellen in earlier census entries!

William's parents were Thomas and Catherine - his paternal grandparents may have been John and Jane and his maternal grandparents may have been Maurice and Catherine.

I'm guessing an Ellen would be likely if the child was a girl and Thomas if a boy!?!

11) update
NB: (Herbert JONES, b. 38 Chester Street, Wrexham on 23 February 1892 as per birth certificate - no baptism found)
Uncle Herbie's army records suggest he married Hilda HARLING on 04 Oct 1915 at Wrexham Register Office.

1901 in Warrington, Lancashire, at 51 Wilderspool Causeway with his married sister's household
1911 in Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, at 16 Lambpit St in his widowed mother's household
1939 in Barnack R D, Northamptonshire, at 19 Main Street as head of household

Still no trace of his death entry, following don't match:
d. 1968 aged 75 dist. BRIXWORTH a daughter of K V Jones informant occupation retired van driver
d. 1966 aged 73 dist. ST.ASAPH a son W H Jones informant but occupation miles out and a widow listed as a Sarah Jones in probate

They had a son in 1916 called William Harold Jones in Wrexham.
(There is a William Harold Jones who died in Wycombe, Bucks in 1971 with a 1916 birth date!)
It then appears they had a daughter Vera in Warrington, Lancashire in 1920;
a daughter Amy in Wigan, Lancashire in 1922
and perhaps a daughter Hazel M Jones in 1938 in Wycombe, Buckinghamshire!

Hilda JONES in 1939 reg has her surname crossed out in green ink, with Howell surname written above it and her date of death in the same green ink written in as 11 Nov 1970 - confirmed with cremation details checked at Wrexham listed as 13 Nov 1970 - so she appears to have married Ernest George Howell in 1968 in Wrexham

That's a lot of research you have done, I hope one day another researcher picks it up and makes contact.

A family of JONES found in Canada on Ancestry believed to be our possible missing cousins - I got back the DNA results this week and the same family tree has been confirmed as highly likely cousins through our DNA match! This gave me access to the tree and some photos and the family similarity in looks is uncanny!!!
