I'm trying to trace ancestors in the Holland branch of my tree 1890-1910.
I have no first names, only parents names, as the children were all born after a census year and died before the next one! I found two and 4 that survivied to adulthood by trawling through parish registers but there's 9 more - Lancashire/Greater Manchester. After that many infant/child deaths it's possible they stopped baptising them.
BMD records don't help as there are hundreds of Holland's in the right areas and they don't give parents names. Any suggestions?

with something like this? You can try various combinations of father and/or mother's names.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good tip that from luxor. I also wondered if you have a subscription to Ancestry? If not have you tried your local library as it is usually free there.

If you try from Ancestry Home Page
Search>
Card Catalogue>
and then in the Keyword box put "Manchester"

This will show all the databases that Ancestry holds concerning Manchester. Down the list you will find Baptisms and Burials.

Try these databases separately and you will find that for the Baptisms you can enter a surname, with a date span and possible parents names too, in a similar manner as shown by luxor for the lan-opc site.

Just beware, if you think the baptisms might have been RC then the names might well be latinicised.
