I am having trouble locating the birth of John Edward Radnor who was stated to be the half brother of my grandfather. I have located both his marriage and death certificates. According to his death certificate he was born on 8th January 1915 at Wellington Shropshire. At the time of his marriage in 1943 he was living at my grandfather's family's home in Liverpool and no father's details were shown which supports the belief that he was illigitimate. To the best of my knowledge he and his wife had no children.I can find no birth registration around 1915 for a John Radnor in Shropshire which may suggest his birth name was not Radnor. There are no other Radnor's in my family history. It is possible he may have been adopted but I have no idea how I can follow this up. I would be grateful if someone can give me some suggestions as to how to proceed with this.

On Free BMD, it's transcribed as John R Rodner, 6a 1033, Shifnal, 1915.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
It would seem that Bert may have hit the nail on the head with that find. If you decide to purchase the birth certificate I would suggest that the easiest way to request it is by phone from either the GRO or the local Register Office and state the criteria that you believe you know - ie who the mother/father was. If you do that and it's incorrect then they should refund your money.

Thank you for the responses especially Bert. I really should have thought of that and have now ordered the certificate online.
