Barker or Kirby (married or not?)

I have Sarah Elizabeth Barker, born Edenfield 1871 in most censuses up to and including the last one. The puzzle is why she is recorded as 'Barker' but the original gives her surname as 'Kirby'? I think the clue may be in the fact that she has a child of two (Horace) - also on the original as 'Kirby'.
I've looked for a Barker-Kirby marriage around 1905 as she states she's been married for 6 years. However I can't find anything. I also can't find a birth for a Horace Kirby but there is one for Horace Barker in 1909.
I tried following Horace Barker up and found two who were killed in WW2 but don't know if they are relevant.
I suppose I really would like my initial theory of no Mr Kirby confirmed!
Thanks in advance
Barbara

I would look for a baptism of the said Horace under either surname. She says she's had 2 children have you found that child's birth and death?

Please can you post the reference for the Horace Barker you have found as I can't see it. I've found. Possible death but need the birth reference to see if it's a possibility.

A bit more...
Sarah Elizabeth says there were 2 children born alive but only 1, Horace, is living. Looks like she definitely married KIRBY, Henry Lingard.

Births Mar 1905: Kirby, James Lingard - Bury 8c 573
Deaths Sep 1905: Kirby, James Lingard [0] - Bury 8c 329

There is one other child death registered in Bury between 1904 and March 1911..
Deaths Jun 1908: Kirby, Edith Maria [4] Bury 8c 333
But she was born in 1903...
Births Dec 1903: Kirby, Edith Maria - Bury 8c 640

Thank you DS! Why didn't I think of looking outside the 1905 box? The heat must be getting to me.
Now to look into the Kirby family.
Much appreciated
Barbara

Thanks Bert. I did see that will but hadn't picked up on Henry's second marriage. Still on the Kirby trail - lots of siblings for Henry but mostly dead ends so far!
Cheers
Barbara
