Hi :D

I see an alternative sub site has Abergavenny Parish records..

I'm struggling with this family :(

1841 at Abergavenny
HO107; Piece: 742 Folio: 38; Page: 18
Maria Freeman 35 not born in county
Ann Freeman 14 not born in county
Elenor Freeman 12 not born in county
Maria Freeman 9 b in county
Emily Freeman 3 b in county

I believe this is my 2 x freat grandmother Ann Freeman. Ann marries James Wright at Newland, Forest of Dean in 1853, no father named for either of them.

They are on the census in the Forest of Dean
1861
RG 9; Piece: 3981; Folio: 6; Page: 6
James Wright 56 b Coleford, Glos, Ag Lab
Ann Wright 30 b Coleford, Glos
Hannah Wright 6 b Clearwell, Glos
Mary Wright 3, b Clearwell, Glos

1871 at Newland, Forest Of Dean
RG10; Piece: 5298; Folio: 98; Page: 5
James Wright 34( AGE IS 74), b Glos, West Dean
Ann Wright 39, b Monmouth, Abergavenny
Hannah Wright 15, b Newland, Glos
Mary Wright 12b Newland, Glos

Hoping to find what happened to the rest of the Ann's family after 1841. I can't find them on the census, although I have death certficate for her sister Maria who died in October 1841. Also are there any baptisms for young Maria and Emily.

Thanks a bunch :D

Hi Simone,
Nothing popped up in baptisms in Monmouthshire for either Maria or Emily. But did come across this in 1838, the right year for Emily:

Birth: FREEMAN, Female (unnamed)
Registration district: Abergavenny, Monmouthshire
Year of registration: 1838; Sep qtr.
Volume no: 26; Page no: 4

There are no fathers named on the actual marriage cert? If that is the case the 1841 census is as far as you can go.

Thanks Brian, yes I did wonder about the birth.

I'm not so much looking at fathers, realise I'm at a dead end there, but would like to try and find ouyt what happened after 1841. Did maria stay in abbergavenn, marry or die? What became of young emily :?

Thanks for looking :D

Looked for Elenor [+ variants] from 1841 on. No marriages that made sense, ie area; and I didn't see her in 1851. There were 10 deaths up to 1851 but none in Wales.

Regarding the mother Mary, found this possible:
Death: FREEMAN, Mary
Registration district: Newport, Monmouthshire.
Year of registration: 1847; Mar qtr
Volume no: 26; Page no: 101.

And these marriages:
FREEMAN, Maria - Glamorganshire, Bridgend - 1844.
FREEMAN, Maria - Pembrokeshire, Pembroke - 1845.

Up to 1851, I found 4 Mary marriages in Wales.

Thanks for that :D was hoping Elenor or Emily may stick out in the parish registers as having married :(

Maybe Maria married and they are using another name now

I see just a few Freeman's living in Abergavenny at that time who were born out of county, may have to try and work on them for a bit.

Thanks again

You would think so wouldn't you. Just letting you know that I have also had a look, sadly no results either.

Thanks Mary. Suppose there named could be variants too which won't help :(

I'll hit on something one day with a bit of luck.

I use the forest of dean site for parish records, and possibly Maria snr is daughter of Sarah fron Chepstow, but not sure

Oh well ill keep looking

Thanks again :D
