Burial in Hamburg

I wonder if any of you knowledgeable people out there may be able to direct me to the right place to start an enquiry. I am trying to help a friend find out about her German grandfather. He was born in the late 19th Century in Germany, came to England and settled down in Hertfordshire. Unfortunately, he was interned during the First World War. After that he decided to return to Germany and went with his son, who later returned to England. He never remarried and died alone in Hamburg in 1955. What we need is to find out where he was buried and if anyone, a friend or relative buried him or was it the state? In a nutshell, how does one trace a burial in Hamburg in 1955?

I don't know if any of our members will have any expertise in this area, but perhaps I could make a couple of suggestions of other places to enquire.

There is an Anglo German Family History Society who might have some ideas http://www.agfhs.org.uk/

Another place to try is Rootschat where there is a Europe Board and specifically the moderator is, I believe, located in Germany and tries his best to help with queries in that country, in fact he has a page of useful tips http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... 860.0.html I'm sure if anybody could help, he would try his best.
