Hi gals, I'm back
Folks, we have just positively identified our Grand parents - Mother's branch, now having proof of marriage, which affords us a new starting point to continue our quest
A marriage cert. (Dated Feb.06, 1900), Confirms that our G'pa (Edward George Hodgson) was indeed born in Holyhead / Wales. We had deduced this information however did not have any solid proof for this Hodgson family or of a marriage to Sarah McLeod. Now we have it confirmed. The wall has fallen. Whew !
However it appears that we were following the wrong McLeod family; so here is where we now stand, our new starting data.
Feb.06, 1900 our G'ma - ‘Sarah McYain McNab.McLellan McLeod' - aged 28- b.Scotland - she was a widow. (One of the 4 Mc's could have been from her previous marriage?) Married Edward George Hodgson..(these are our G'parents) in Halifax, NS Canada.
Edward George Hodgson died Feb.17,1905 -living at 30 Hemans St. Bootle. (Sarah is again widowed with 2 infants??)
Per the Marriage Cert. her father was named Archibald (probably McLeod?), a Stockbroker & her Mother was a Margaret Ann ...? (our GG'parents)
This seems to be the final missing link in our Quest, having recently acquired a new step brother complete with missing information (burial, history, photos) of our birth father - who had disappeared after the death of our Mother in 1932.
Any help in tracking this new McLeod family (most likely in Scotland), will be greatly appreciated.
Sarah McYain McNab McLellan McLeod b. Scotland - was widowed prior to Feb. 06 1900 - (this is her second marriage)
her father Archibald a stock broker
her Mother Margaret Ann...
Thank you for your interest. Have a great day. Peter / Montreal
