This is possibly a silly question to those who know about such things ...can someone please advise me on the following...

I have a marriage in 1858 in Runcorn ...is it possible to find out if they married in a registry offfice or church before I have to dig deep and order a marriage cert. I have searched the Cheshire records on An....ry and no joy.
