I suspect the witness is Minnie, possibly Bridget's sister, Mary.
No luck yet, marriage, Joseph and Jane.
I would take a punt and get Bridget's birth cert.

I would go for a birth year of 1891, perhaps, DS, can advise if an Irish birth cert can be ordered naming the father and the mother Jane, no maiden name. If no match, money returned.

Photocopies of entries in the registers are also available at a cost of €4.00 [abt £3.20!]. These contain exactly the same information as a Certificate but are only of use for research purposes. The Irish GRO will actually email the copy cert to you if you tick the relevant box at no extra charge!

At present you can't pay online. Download the Word doc and then fax it back to them, or post if you don't have a fax facility. They usually don't charge if they can't make a match.

Note: The application form refers to a PPS Number (if known). Just enter N/A. And for Date of Birth (dd/mm/yyyy): enter 1891 +/- 1 year. With luck, on a good day, they will search one year either side.

Slight problem with the birth certificate - my grandmother Bridget, nee McCullagh apparently never had one, only a baptism certificate. I'll have a look at Anc. for the other family tree but I think I've already been in contact with that person. We established that her mother was my aunties' cousin and did remember them from holiday visits years ago.
Thanks again for all the efforts folks.
PS When I applied for my grandparents' marriage cert. I was able to get it as an e-mail attachment - much faster for me in France.

Hi Barbara,
Just because family lore says she never had a birth certificate doesn't mean her birth wasn't registered and there was a birth cert at some time. Omagh is the county town for Tyrone and there's this birth I would have a go for, but stating the parents' names you assume from her marriage cert and a census. No match... no charge!
Birth: Bridget McCullagh
Birth year: 1891; Dec qtr
Registration Year and Quarter: 1893; Sep qtr
Registration District: Omagh
