Irish RC records on Ancestry

Post by Hilary »

No idea how comprehensive these are but just found on Ancestry

Irish Catholic Parish Records, 1742-1884
In Ireland, Catholic parish registers are your best bet for finding early births, marriages and deaths, as most people rejected the Anglican Church of Ireland. Our collections let you pinpoint your ancestors in their home country before many of them fled during the Great Famine.

They must have just gone on as they weren't there earlier today.

They have Irish indexes that were available on Family Search but apparently more user friendly than Family Search. The parish records are a bit disappointing it looks like a small selection and there are no images.

Tested out the surname Parle and found zilch for marriages, however there were quite a number of baptisms, and in Wexford too where I would be interested in them. Sorry to say none of them with the right parents. Hope they add more but as Blue says, it is an index only, no images, what a shame.
