Opinion on an occupation please

Post by MaryA »

Hi, I'm in the realms of the 1770's here and so occupations a little different.

The family occupation down a couple of generations seems to be that of Coachman but I've just come across a baptism of what I suspect is a brother to my line where the father's occupation is P Chaisem

Now could this be the same occupation? I'm thinking P for Phaeton? Chaise perhaps

Well that's definitely another thought isn't it, at least it would seem that the occupation is driving of some sort anyway, think I need to claim James for mine ;)

Clever guy Blue!!! Just found his marriage allegation which gives the occupation as Post Chaisman, lovely, thanks.
