I think you've cracked it. Alfred's first wife who I think was Mary Maria Waring must have died either in England or USA. I wonder if the child George I have scribbled down as 10 years 10 months is actually 1 year 10 mths which would make him the George of the 1920 census.

I've found young George! For some reason I had inadvertantly killed him off.

He was born George William Lewis in 1909 in Great Harwood son of Alfred and his wife Mary Maria (nee Waring). I reckon he's the child Alfred takes to USA in 1911 and his son in 1920. There is only one other child born between 1911 1917 in the whole of Lancashire with mother maiden name Waring and that's Lilian in 1913 in West Derby. That would give his 2 children. It sounds a possibility.

Alfred Lewis, weaver, traveling in 1910 on the Cymric, further back in thread, is traveling alone. He declares himself married, there's a 1 in the box with the "M", it could mean married just the one year, which is good and would be correct, the 1920 census, link, he declares George born, New York,????, possible mistake.

George Lewis is travelling with Minnie Lewis aged 20, same friend, Alf Lewis.

I reckon Minnie is Mary Maria and the age for George is wrong. It would certainly make sense as Alfred was married in 1909. The child I found born West Derby is perhaps not Alfred's and they perhaps had another in the States.

Oh heck just remembered a problem there's an Ada Eleanor Lewis mother's maiden name Waring born in Great Harwood in 1912. I wonder if she (Minnie Mary) went back to Great Harwood?

I think I'll leave it and see what Auntie thinks!
