I wonder if anybody can tell me anything about Lunt's Cakes where my Dad's older brother worked.

My Uncle John Reid (of Saltney St, later Hornby St, Liverpool) was a delivery boy after he left school so it would be around 1914/5 when he got his job with Lunts.

I'm looking for some background information on the shop or bakery and, if possible, a photo of the place for my records.

A couple of bits of information collected from various places around the internet.

There is listed in a 1911 directory Geo. Lunt's bakers shop at 27 Christian Street.

Lunts bakery vans used to have a picture of an indians head on the cab doors.

There was a Lunts Bakery, Birkett Street, Liverpool 13 in the 1950/60's.

There would appear to have been a number of Geo. Lunt Bakers shops around Liverpool and also maybe the Wirral by the 1940's.

Thanks MaryA, my uncle started working for them on leaving school and I believe he rode a delivery bike. Thanks for that information, regards :)

Hi!

In the 1940s and 50s the actual bakery was situated in the St Ann Street area. My Uncle worked there as a carpenter and I used to travel with him on the tram as I worked close by in Fox Street.
