Does anyone know where Minera Street was, I think it was Liverpool 5. It is not in the current directory of Liverpool Streets. Many thanks Moya

Perhaps you could tell us where you got the information from. If it was from a census then the Description of the Enumerator's District will help to identify where it was.

Don't know about Minera Street but are you sure it isn't Minerva Street? In the 1891 it is here: RG12 / Piece:2954 / Folio:25 / Page:6.

Registration District: West Derby; Sub District: North Everton;
Enumeration District: 16; Ecclesiastical Parish: St Georges;
Civil Parish: Everton; Municipal Borough: Liverpool.

There might be a Minera Street because there is an old mining village of that name near Wrexham in North Wales and I believe there was a strong Welsh presence in the Bootle area.

Hi Moya!

There is an entry for a baptism on the Lancashire OnLine Parish Clerk Project for George Roberts of 17 Minera Street. This took place on 12 September 1896 at St George, Everton.
Also, on the inacityliving site there are mentions of Minera Street, which seemed to be in the Netherfield Road area.

Thankyou everyone for your replies. It was definitely Minera Street. It was the address noted on the death certificate of Hannah Daniels who died in 1961. You may remember that I was interested in finding if her estate had gone into Chancery, but it turned out that this was a family myth. She did indeed leave a Will and Minera Street was mentioned in the Will also. I think that Heli is probably correct in it being in the Netherfield Road area, but I wonder when it all got knocked down and what replaced it. Regards Moya

In the 1930s there was a Minera St but no Minerva St - source: Geographia Road Atlas of S.Lancs. It ran between St George's Terrace and Heyworth Street.

Don't know when it was knocked down but have been able to locate it's position by means of my 1906 Ordnance Survey Map of Liverpool North.

Using googlemaps search for Cochrane Street, Liverpool and you will see that it comes off the west side of Heyworth Street, almost opposite the Old Campfield pub. The only place it leads to is the Hill O Zion church/chapel and then onto the landscaped area.

Parallel to Cochrane Street, northwards was Amos Street, running from St George's Hill on it's west (presumably the current diagonal road/path running up from Everton Terrace) but turning left and not meeting Heyworth Street to it's east. Parallel again north was Minera Street.
