It's the only one I see in Liverpool, usually check the www.genuki.org.uk site but this is what it details
"•St Barnabas, Smithdown road (corner of Cramond avenue), Chapel of Ease to SS Matthew and James Church. Dedicated June 29, 1900. "

So your marriage seems to be a little early for this church.

Hi Holly

There was another St Barnabas, it was situated on the corner of Parliament Street and Flint Street near Chaloner Street. It was consecrated in 1841 and the registers date from then. However, due to dwindling congregations, the church and site were put up for sale in1892 and by 1894 was being pulled down. I also assumed that a marriage certificate I have for St Barnabas referred to Smithdown Road, but found this information on Toxteth.net.

Oops, senior moment, should be Challinor Street.

St Barnabas Parliament Street registers go from 1841 - 1892, according to Liverpool record Office Catalogue, so I would imagine it's that one.

Hi Holly

Called into the record office yesterday for a quick look-up and had your request on my list.

St Barnabas
20.6.1892 John Wichmann -24 - Bachelor - Seaman of 166 Upper Frederick Street - Father August Wichmann - Labourer to Mary Ann Hill - 23 - spinster of Same Address - Father Frederick Hill - Shipwright
Witnesses - Frank Thour??lles and Ellin Hill.

This wasn't very clear as it was one of the blue printed ones but am sure that this is the one that you want.

Sorry didn't have my camera and couldn't get on a copy machine.

Hi 42aitch and many thanks for your help! Just what I wanted!

Gt. Grandad Frank married on 19th June and John was the witness (His surname should read Kerwelles)

John married on 20th June and Gt grandad was the witness

Thats a lovely little discovery for me - thank you very much - Holly

Hi Holly

Glad that it is the right one, Kerwelles sounds good for the witness signature too. It looked as if the ink had blotted a bit on some parts, so just took a guess at what it could be.
