Hi all,
Trying to find an inquest held into the death, possibly in the docks, circa 1880s, of an Alexander or Henry McKay [born in N. Ireland]. Believed to have been a seaman who died as the result of an accident on board ship.

I had a look for a possible death and found
Alexander McKay death June Q 1881 Liverpool 8b page 131 age 60

Could that be your man. If so the death certiciate may help if the certificate mentions inquest or coroner.

Thanks for that Hilary. My query/quest was on behalf of a contact who has only the most tenuous 'bits' of info passed down through the family. I'll pass your info on and hope for the best.
Thanks again,
Brian
